Advantages of gravure printing:
| Gravure printing means that the elements to be printed are embedded deeper in the printing form, whereas the elements which should not be printed lie on a uniformly high surface. After the colour is applied to the whole plate the excess colour is removed with a doctor plate and flows back into the inking unit. The colour is therefore only in the recessed cells (=parts to print). The purpose of the impression roller is to apply the colour by a high contact pressure onto the printing substrate. It then goes through a high performance dry secquence before going through the next colour unit. |
